Deputy Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner, Mike Johnson spent a busy morning out on patrol with Barrow Town Centre and Hindpool’s dedicated Community Beat Officer (CBO), PC Liam Oliver seeing first-hand the issues that he is focusing on in his community including anti-social behaviour and anti-social driving.
During the visit, the DPFCC and PC walked the town centre and Hindpool area to hear more about the work being done to tackle local concerns since PC Oliver took on the role as CBO in 2023.
Speaking on the visit, DPFCC Mike Johnson, said: “The public continuously raise their desire to see more officers on our streets, which I fully understand. The introduction of CBO’s provides a dedicated, named Officer for an area to help with any concerns raised by residents.
“I’m pleased that during Neighbourhood Policing Week, I am able to get out with our Community Beat Officer for Barrow Town Centre and hear all about the positive work that he has done in the area – especially around ASB in the town centre.
“I would encourage the public to continue to report ASB and other issues around crime to the Police on 101 or 999 in an emergency. Together we can keep Cumbria safe.”
