“The expedition was challenging and took me out of my comfort zone but with encouragement from my team this helped me through.

“I would encourage others to complete the award and do not give up because the feeling of achievement is amazing. A few of my highlights were meeting Tom Cruise during the silver expedition and attending Buckingham Palace which I will never forget.”

The scheme aims to give young people between the ages of 13 and 17 the opportunity to develop their qualities and skills through a structured programme and to enhance the relationship between the public and police.

The Volunteer Police Cadet programme offers a fantastic variety of opportunities to the young people involved, many of which would otherwise be well beyond their expectations.
