A595 Closed at Askam Junction following a road traffic collision

Police were called at 11:31am this morning (24th Oct) to the report of a two vehicle collision on the A595 on Askam Road, at the Junction for Askam.

The collision involved a Toyota Corolla and a Ford.

Police, ambulance, HeliMed and Fire attended the scene.

A woman in her 60’s was airlifted to Royal Preston Hospital with significant injuries not believed to be life-threatening.  

The road is closed in both directions whilst emergency services attend the scene and the road is made safe. This closure will remain in place for at least the next hour (circa 15:40pm).

A 52-year-old man from Barrow has been arrested for a driving offence.

Anyone who witnessed either vehicle driving prior to the incident or who witnessed the incident is asked to contact police.
