With the Christmas period approaching, and many school and college leavers looking to begin their career paths, Furness based MP Simon Fell is working together with both DWP and Inspira to put on a careers and skills fair this September.
The fair will take place on Friday 23 September 2022 at Furness College Sports Hall, Channelside, Barrow in Furness.
Mr Fell is calling on Furness based job seekers, students, and young people to come along to engage with more than forty stall holders from manufacturing, care, hospitality, further education and more.
The format of the event is split into two, with job seekers from the DWP invited to attend between 1 pm and 3 pm, and school and college students invited from 3 pm to 5 pm.
Commenting, Simon said:
“I’d like to thank all of the local businesses who’ve taken the opportunity to have a stall to engage directly with active job seekers in Furness.
“Given the time of year, it is anticipated that interest in the event will be high, and we are looking forward to a great fair.
“My thanks go to the local DWP and Inspira teams for working together with us to put this event on, and to our sponsors: ABP, Kimberley-Clark, MSH Healthcare, and Spirit Energy. Without them, the fair wouldn’t be able to go ahead.”
To maximise attendance work coaches from the local jobcentre are actively encouraging jobseekers to attend. They are also working with Inspira, so all year ten to thirteen students in the area are invited to attend the later session.
Commenting, an Inspira spokesperson said:
“The event is a fantastic opportunity to showcase local recruitment opportunities for adults looking to get into work. Our National Careers Advisors will be available at the event to support clients with free careers advice.”
The event is free to attend for all job seekers and students. The fair is kindly sponsored by ABP Barrow, Kimberley-Clark, MSH Healthcare, Spirit Energy.
