Boom Dang’s original song ‘We Are In The Future’ has been written and composed with Barrow-in-Furness families especially for Great Big Green Week
Boom Dang’s Ting Tang family drumming group had an inspiring visit from Rema Grace Gifford of Mycelium Thinking CIC as part of our celebrations for Great Big Green Week and we have written and recorded the original song based on her visit.
Boom Dang is an organisation that provides creative music activities that positively impacts people’s lives. They were created in 2000 and the organisation includes an internationally acclaimed drumming band, a training centre for music practitioners and a participatory music team led by Artistic Director Therese Johnston.
Boom Dang have been delivering workshops in the community in partnership with other Barrow based organisations including Theatre Factory, YouthAbility, Dropzone, Furness Multi-Cultural Community Forum and Women’s Community Matters. We have invited our friends from those groups to come and join us in singing our song at Another Fine Fest.
The project was designed to encourage the families to think about issues around sustainability and small changes we can make. The lyrics include “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Repeat”
The catchy song will be performed at Another Fine Fest on Saturday 15 June on the Flourishing Furness Stage between 11.55-12.15 and also released on their social media channels.
This project has been supported by Cumbria Action for Sustainability (CAfS)
Boom Dang is supported by Youth Music using public money from the National Lottery through Arts Council England and Drumming Up Barrow is supported by Arts Council England.
