Jon eventually signed for Barrow and also had spells at Morecambe, Vickers SC and Dalton Utd before going into coaching.

Jon played a key role in Vic Halom’s Northern Premier League title winning team in 1988.
Jon recalls his early schooldays when he played for Barrow Celtic /Barrow Boys and North Lancashire before signing apprentice forms for the team he supported Everton.
At the end of the apprenticeship Jon was sadly released by Everton, his dreams of becoming a professional footballer dashed and the realisation that he would have to join the working ranks and play non league football.
