Passengers advised not to travel today and tomorrow in Cumbria due to extreme weather.

Rail passengers have been warned to expect disruption on Sunday in Cumbria and Lancashire as extreme weather is expected.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for wind and rain in Cumbria from 18:00 GMT on Saturday until 18:00 on Monday.

As a further precaution, no passenger trains will operate from start of service on Sunday through to 1800 on Monday on the following lines and no rail replacement services will be provided:

Carlisle – Carnforth

Safety measures will continue to be reviewed and updated as necessary.
