The MP for Barrow and Furness has expressed his gratitude to two long serving GPs who have announced their plans to retire this summer.
Drs Chris Green and Kathryn Robinson have decided to retire from their roles as GPs and will therefore give up their contract to run the Liverpool House surgery in Barrow.
Commenting, Simon said:
“Drs Green and Robinson are long standing pillars of the local community in Risedale.
“They provide traditional GP services with modern methods. I understand totally that their retirement will be met with sadness by their several thousand patients, which is a testament to their work in our community.”
As a result of the GPs retiring, the Liverpool House surgery is set to close it’s doors for the final time in June.
Mr Fell has been working together with the patients, the local community, and the ICB to find alternatives.
Commenting, Simon said:
“It is with regret that, owing to Drs Chris Green and Kathryn Robinson taking very well-earned retirement from their roles as GPs, Liverpool House Surgery is to close on 30 June 2023.
“Working together with patients, and the ICB we have done everything possible to avoid this outcome. Thank you to everyone who took part in the consultation which the ICB led, and for joining our campaign to keep the surgery open.”
Mr Fell is urging patients to avoid panic, and to await notification from the ICB of their new practice, local to Liverpool House.
The MP said:
“The important thing now is to not panic. The ICB handle this sort of thing every day, it’s what they’re good at.
“There is enough capacity on all the lists close to Liverpool House, and families will be transferred together.
“For anyone who’d like any more information or support then, as always, I would urge them to get in contact with me in the usual way.”
