A man has been remanded in custody after he was charged by detectives with rape.

Sadam Bahaderi, aged 25, of no fixed address, appeared at Barrow Magistrates’ Court yesterday (30 May) charged with rape. He was remanded in custody and will next appear at Preston Crown Court on 27 June 2023.

The charge follows an investigation into an incident reported to have occurred in the early hours of 28 May, in the vicinity of Cavendish Street in Barrow

The victim, a woman aged in her 20s, is being supported by specialist officers.
