Cumbrian organisations awarded the King’s Award for Enterprise

On Friday 21 April 2023, been announced that four organisations in Cumbria have been awarded the prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise.

Clark Door Limited of Carlisle has received its award in the Innovation category.

Fruugo.com Limited of Ulverston and OEE Container Technology Limited of Carlisle have received their awards in the International Trade category.

First Milk of Aspatria has received its award in the Sustainable Development category.

The King’s Award for Enterprise are the UK’s most prestigious business awards, offering recipients global acknowledgment that their company is outstanding in its field. Winners are invited to attend a Buckingham Palace reception and can use the Awards Emblem as an internationally recognised endorsement.

The Awards recognise and encourage the outstanding achievements of UK businesses in the fields of:

  • Innovation
  • International Trade
  • Sustainable Development
  • Promoting Opportunity through social mobility

Almost all UK businesses (including non-profit) can apply and the application process is free. All applications must be made online. All entry forms, eligibility criteria and information on how to apply is available on the King’s Award for Enterprise website.

Entries open for the 2024 King’s Awards for Enterprise from 6 May 2023. The deadline for entries is midday 12 September 2023.

The Lieutenancy may be able to offer advice to eligible applicants and would be delighted to hear from companies considering applying.

His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Cumbria, Mrs Claire Hensman said:

“Congratulations to all the award-winning companies in the 2023 round announced today. There is a high bar to meet the requirements for a King’s Award. We do have some excellent innovative and enterprising companies in Cumbria, and it is so pleasing to see some in the lists this year. The Award brings benefits as it is seen as a gold standard and is internationally prestigious.

“I encourage businesses which are growing their international markets, have an original new product, are making strides in their progress towards sustainability and net zero, or are promoting opportunity in their workforce, to explore the eligibility criteria for an Award.”
