Ford Park Awarded £610,000 from GSK Legacy Fund

“Today was a really big day for Ford Park, and we’re so excited to finally be able to share the news properly…
After months of hard work behind the scenes, we’ve been awarded £610,000 from the GSK £2m Legacy Fund to help us build a brand new community building next to the car park.
The GSK team visited Ford Park today and presented us with a cheque for £610,000. It was one of those moments when, after months of hoping and planning the whole team realised, wow, this is really going to happen!
This new space will make such a difference. It will be more accessible and will allow us to host bigger events and fundraisers, welcome more school and educational visits, and create a warm, practical space the community can use all year round. It will also provide much needed meeting and training space for local businesses seeking a beautiful venue with onsite parking.
The building will also be a planet-friendly build, with solar panels to cover the charity’s energy needs – keeping in line with the park’s ethos.
We’re incredibly grateful to GSK for providing the legacy funding, and to the GSK Taskforce who had the tough job of reviewing so many brilliant submissions.
To say we’re thankful that Ford Park was selected is a massive understatement, this project will help secure the future of the park for generations to come.
A huge congratulations too to The Spot, who have also been awarded funding to renovate their building and create much-needed community space for Ulverston residents and groups. What a brilliant boost for the town.”
