Cumbria County Council recruits dozens of new apprentices every year into a variety of different roles, including civil engineers, highways engineers, business administrators, project managers, accountants, firefighters and care workers. Many go on to secure permanent roles. Their award-winning Apprenticeship Team supports all applicants through the apprenticeship process, alongside their dedicated tutor.
This year successful apprenticeship candidates will start work for one of Cumbria’s new organisations, Westmorland and Furness Council, Cumberland Council or Cumbria Commissioner Fire and Rescue Authority. This is an exciting time to join as Cumbria embarks on a new journey for local government.
Councillor Sue Sanderson, Cumbria County Council Cabinet Member for Schools and Learning, said:
“Apprenticeships offer a fantastic opportunity for people to earn while they learn and many of our apprentices go on to secure permanent employment and further training.
“We have a vast range of opportunities coming soon. Whether you’re leaving school and looking to start a new career or already in employment, we have something to suit everyone.
“This is a particularly exciting time to be getting involved in local government services in Cumbria as we transform our councils through Local Government Reorganisation. Come with us on this journey and help us to deliver and shape services for the people of Cumbria. Drop in at one of our free events to find out more.”
