Suppliers assemble for launch event with Westmorland and Furness Council

Contractors and consultants who will be working with Westmorland and Furness Council on over £0.5 billion of capital works over the next 5 years, came together recently for their first supplier event, to launch the new programme of future projects.

Around 70 representatives from contractors appointed to the council’s Capital Works and Minor Works Frameworks and consultants on the Professional Services Framework attended the information and networking event held at Kendal Town Hall Assembly Rooms.

The event was the first of its kind for Westmorland and Furness Council, which was formed following a local government review (LGR) in April 2023.  Attendees were introduced to the council’s key values, objectives and its approach and aspirations for the capital programme, with the opportunity to speak to council officers and industry colleagues. Presentations were given by consultants at Jacobs and Pell Frischmann, focussing on the importance of Social Value and carbon accounting related to the council’s projects.

Allan Harty, Assistant Director for Corporate Assets, Fleet & Capital Programme said:

“We have several major, multimillion pound projects in the pipeline and we will be working with multiple partners to deliver on the objectives and ambitions of our busy capital programme”.

“This event was the perfect opportunity to bring suppliers and consultants together to understand our council priorities, as we launch the next stage of improvements and development of our highways and council owned assets.”
