Have your say on PlayZone plans in Barrow

Westmorland and Furness Council is working in partnership with the Football Foundation to develop a new PlayZone in Barrow and is asking communities for input.

Following the council’s successful expression of interest, Barrow has been included on the list of locations to receive a PlayZone. PlayZones are safe, inclusive and accessible outdoor facilities that aim to bring the community together through sport.

This is an exciting new project which aims to tackle inequalities in physical activity and provide access to a high-quality community facility in a local, accessible space.

The council is looking to find out more about how people feel about the proposal and learn what needs to be included in the project to ensure it is suitable and beneficial to the local area.

The facility will be floodlit so it can be used in the evenings and can be booked in advance using an app, with electronic access provided to users.

The survey is now open and will close on Friday 7 June. Have your say now.

More information on PlayZones can be found on the Football Foundation website.

The Football Foundation’s programme is backed by investment from the Premier League, the FA and Sport England.

“This new PlayZone facility will be a great asset to the town but it’s vital that we work closely with our communities to ensure we develop a facility which is fit for purpose.

“Your ideas, suggestions and feedback which help shape and inform the project so please take the time to complete the survey and have your say.”
