Woman charged with affray following Ulverston investigation

Officers investigating the death of a woman in Ulverston in February have today (4 October) charged a woman with affray.

On 20 February 2023, police were called to County Square in Ulverston where a woman, Holly Lambert, was found unconscious.

Holly was subsequently declared deceased.

Cumbria Police’s investigation resulted in the arrest of three people – two men and a woman – on suspicion of murder.

Two of those people were subsequently informed that they faced no further action.

The third, Rebecca Kearsley, 41, of Market Street in Ulverston, has been informed she faces no further action with respect the offence she was arrested on suspicion of.

However, Kearsley was today charged with affray relating to alleged actions in the County Square area of Ulverston on the evening of Holly’s death. Kearsley has been bailed to attend Barrow Magistrates court on 1 November 2023.

Detective Inspector Laura Nield said: “This has been a lengthy and complex investigation as detectives sought to ascertain exactly what occurred the night of Holly’s death. This has resulted in the charge brought today.

“Holly’s family have been made aware of developments and we continue to be in contact with them.

“With regards Holly’s death, Cumbria Police has been working with the Coroner’s Office and will continue to do so.”
