Update: Road closures in Barrow following potential ordnance

A cordon continues to be in place on Salthouse Road, Barrow following a potential ordnance being located in the Marina Village development at around 9am this morning (Feb 24).

The EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) are on route to conduct an assessment of the potential ordnance.

Cumbria Police, Cumbria Fire and Rescue, North West Ambulance Service and Barrow Borough Council are currently in attendance as a precaution and to support EOD.

The cordon will remain in place for several hours until the assessment has been carried out and is in place to ensure the safety of local residents.

Previous release 
There are currently road closures in place on Salthouse Road, Barrow from School Street to Foundry Street due to a potential ordnance being located in the Marina Village development today (Feb 24) at around 9am.

The EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) have been contacted and will be attending.

These cordons have been put in place to ensure the safety of local residents.

A closure is also in place on Lumley Street.

The road closures will remain in place whilst this action is undertaken which may take a number of hours.
