Site clearance work to begin on Marina Village project

Cumbria County Council, working with Barrow Borough Council, have secured £5.5 million to deliver the first phase of Marina Village project.
Marina Village is an important regeneration project in Barrow-in-Furness, supporting the construction of 550 housing units.
Cumbria County Council has appointed Thomas Armstrong Construction Ltd to remediate the first six-hectares, as Phase One of the project on the former industrial site which is located south of the A5087 on Salthouse Road, owned by Barrow Borough Council
Work on clearing, demolition, and fencing will begin next week (week beginning 23 May 2022). This work will take place before the main remediation works begin in August 2022, with the project being completed by December 2022.
While the county council and contractors, Thomas Armstrong Construction Ltd, will make every effort to minimise disruption, some noise and traffic delays will be inevitable during the project. They thank residents for their support and patience in advance of the project.
