Police are appealing for information following a collision on the A592 near Windermere.

Officers were called to the collision at 10.38pm last night ( July 15 ).

It involved a black Land Rover and a red Ford Fiesta and happened near the entrance to the Storrs Hall Hotel.

The driver of the Fiesta was taken to hospital at Preston.

The driver of the Land Rover was arrested on suspicion of driving while over the prescribed limit for alcohol and a specified drug.

He was also arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

The road was closed for a number of hours while a forensic collision investigation was carried out.
