Police are appealing for information about an online scam – and asking for any victims to come forward.

Officers are aware of at least three people being victim of a scam where they have responded to an advert on Facebook for a car, or other valuable item, and paid a deposit by bank transfer.

The victims never heard from the seller again.

One such scam happened in January while two others happened in recent weeks. It is believed to focus on the South Lakeland area.
