A joint investigation has been launched into a fire that occurred on Storey Square, Barrow.

Police were contacted by Cumbria Fire and Rescue at around 6pm yesterday (June 1) to the report.

Two men were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

A third man was taken to Furness General Hospital for smoke inhalation.

A 57-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life, he remains in police custody.

A cordon remains in place whilst investigations are ongoing.

Officers are also appealing for dashcam and doorbell footage around the time of the incident.
