Online safety organisation, Get Safe Online are attending the Westmorland Show 2022 to provide invaluable internet protection tips to show-goers and their families.

Cumbria’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Peter McCall, continues to fund Get Safe Online to attend and implement various events, as well as undertaking online safety presentations around the county to raise awareness on the simple steps everyone can make to help keep themselves safe online.

The Get Safe Online team of experts will be available at the Westmorland Show to help anyone who is worried about their online security or just looking for some tips and tricks to help protect their family. The team will include Liz Stanton MBE, Maria Booker and Cliff Alexander who will be offering free, friendly, practical one-to-one advice, leaflets filled with tips and advice on how to stay safe online as well as the ever popular, free glitter tattoos on the stand throughout the day.

Cumbria’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Peter McCall, said: “The Westmorland Show is a great event that attracts hundreds of visitors from all over county and beyond.

“I hope people take the opportunity to come along to the Get Safe Online stall and receive free professional advice and practical support on how to stay safe online.

“Cyber-criminals are continuously advancing and the best way to avoid becoming a victim of cyber crime is knowing how to spot something suspicious online.

“Prevention really is the key in relation to cyber crime so I would encourage anyone at the show to visit the Get Safe Online booth and learn more about how you and your family can stay safe on the internet.

“If you have been the victim of a cyber-crime, please report it to the Police on 101 or to Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040.”

Tony Neate, CEO at Get Safe Online added, “We’re delighted to be attending the Westmorland Show this year – reaching out and being able to talk directly to people across Cumbria is such a vital part of the campaigns we run in the county. So, if you’re visiting the show, come and have a chat to one of our experts. We have plenty of tips to share, and if you ever want to learn more, remember you can always visit our website at getsafeonline.org.”
