Cumbria’s Police and Crime Commissioner’s tribute to Her Majesty The Queen

Following the death of Her Majesty The Queen, Cumbria’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Peter McCall, said: “Along with so many Cumbrians, I am deeply sad to hear of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II whom I was privileged to serve as a soldier.

“The Queen reigned for 70 years and was admired across the world. Her passing is extraordinarily sad, and I know that the county of Cumbria will be grieving. On behalf of myself and my office, I send our most sincere condolences to The Royal Family for their loss.

“I declare before you all that my whole life, whether it be long or short shall be devoted to your service and our great imperial family to which we all belong” HM the Queen 1947.  Her Majesty has fulfilled this promise to the nation, and to the Commonwealth as a true and faithful servant setting the highest and most selfless example to us all.

“The Police have always been dedicated Crown Servants and we will all be mourning the loss of our monarch and remembering her for her exceptional strength, leadership, and dedication to the public through good times and bad.

“Flags at Cumbria Constabulary’s premises will now be flown at half-mast to mark the national period of mourning and I am working with the Chief Constable and Constabulary to ensure that communities are supported during their time of mourning.

“Queen Elizabeth II was truly an inspiration, the epitome of the very best values and standards of service to the Nation and throughout the world, providing stability and comfort to so many throughout her life and reign – she will be sorely missed by the people of Cumbria.”
