This May bank holiday weekend, on Sunday & Monday, Ford Park is stepping back in time as we play host to Colonel Montagu’s Regiment of Foote, an English civil war-era re-enactment and living history group. The group will be setting up camp in the park and adding to Ulverston’s lively festival line-up.
They’ll be in the park for a two day event over the May bank holiday weekend. Their event will take place on Sunday 28th and Monday 29th of May. The group will display life in the 17th century as well as demonstrations of military engagements and weaponry.
The event will showcase a 17th century Living History display on Sunday 28th and Monday 29th May consisting of 17th
century artefacts, tents, shelters and military arms. The display will include military stations such as pike, musket and cannon and more, demonstrating civilian life during the period.
A drill display will take place both days showcasing the various military arms of the period.
Finally there will be a children’s drill after the military drill display on both days where the children can get involved.
Historical re-enactments have been popular at Ford Park in the past and we’re looking to rekindle the excitement for all the families and enthusiasts.
We feel it’s important to experience history and not just read about it and so we’re very excited to have this display happening in the park for all to enjoy.
