Barrow woman jailed for drug supply

A Barrow woman has been sentenced at Preston Crown Court today (July 25) to two years six months imprisonment for a series of drug supply offences, following an investigation by Barrow’s Serious & Organised Crime unit.

Ashleigh Parkinson, 28, of Tweed Rise, Walney was found in possession of £2,220 – £3,240 of heroin and crack cocaine and £1,760 in cash when officers executed a warrant at her home on 17 February 2023.

Parkinson was released on bail, whilst officers conducted further enquiries.

On 31 March 2023, officers executed a second warrant at her home and found crack cocaine, diazepam, and a large quantity of amphetamine valued at £1783.50, as well as a further £220 in cash.

This led to Parkinson being charged and remanded into custody.

Parkinson was convicted today (July 25) of six drug supply offences

  • Possession with intent to supply heroin
  • Possession with intent to supply crack cocaine
  • Possession with intent to supply amphetamine
  • Money laundering
  • Possession of crack cocaine
  • Possession of diazepam

A spokesperson from Barrow’s Serious & Organised Crime unit said: “We welcome the sentence imposed on Ashleigh Parkinson today and hope it serves as a deterrent to those who seek to profit from addiction.

“Parkinson undeterred by her arrest and the subsequent police investigation continued to involve herself in the supply of drug in Barrow.

“We are committed to pursuing and disrupting organised criminals living in our communities.

“If you have information to share about drug criminality in your area, please make an anonymous report via crimestoppers-uk.org, speak to your local neighbourhood officer or phone 101. We will act on it.”
