Barrow Dino Day 2022 On Saturday 20th May Barrow town centre will be transported back to the Jurassic period once again with dinosaurs roaming the streets.
The team at Barrow BID are planning to deliver a bigger and better event in 2023, with new dinosaurs that the town has never before experienced, so keep Saturday 20th May free for a spectacular day of dinosaur fun!
The full programme of activities includes Jumanmji film screenings at the Forum, with a baby dinosaur meet and greet, Raptors and Carnataurus on Dalton Road and some of the largest dinosaurs in the world will take to our Main Arena on the town square. The day promises to be a spectacular event on Barrow’s expanding event calendar, so keep an eye on www.visitbarrow.org.uk/dino-day to find out more about the event.
Other new elements to this year’s event include participants being able to visit Dr Bones at her Dinosaur Hatchery. There will also be a free town centre stamp card trail which children will be able to complete to be in with a chance of winning a dinosaur themed toy bundle from The Entertainer. Stamp cards will be available from any of the participating locations; Barrow Library, The Entertainer, Crafty Hobbies, Cumbria Sewing & Craft Centre, as well as the Ranger Training and Dr Bones arenas.
The aim of the event is to help to boost Barrow’s town centre, support local businesses and change the perception of the town.
Jenny Fazackerley, BID Chair stated, “Events like these are important as they attract people into the town and provide an economic boost to local businesses. High street retailers have had it hard over the past few and we need events like this one more than ever to encourage people back to the town, where they will find a warm welcome and a range of businesses eager to serve. As well as the economic boost, events like Dino Day are a way of instilling local pride in the town centre and changing the perception of Barrow from the outside. We understand that Barrow’s town centre is transforming and high-profile events have a huge part to play in that transformation process.”
Jason Forsyth, BID Marketing & Communication Coordinator said, “Barrow BID worked with Bigfoot Events to bring dinosaurs to Barrow town centre in May 2022, they proved extremely popular, and it was great to see so many families in the town centre and so many children with smiles on their faces. This year we have added new, even bigger dinosaurs that have never been seen in Barrow before. We hope visitors to this years event will have a Roarsome time!”
