Returning for its second year after a phenomenal pilot launch in 2021, the Barrow Music Weekend returns from Thursday 29 th September – Sunday 3 rd October with an exciting and eclectic programme of live music and events. This year, the festival expects record ticket sales with the announcement that Scottish alt-rock band Twin Atlantic will headline at The Forum on Friday 30th September. Originally from Glasgow, the band gained a national reputation with the release of top 10 albums ‘GLA’ and ‘Great Divide’. Performing past hits and new songs from their latest album ‘Transparency’ (2022), this is Twin Atlantic as you’ve never known them, with frontman Sam McTrusty spilling his guts on everything from marriage, male friendship, medication, and his mum.
To kickstart the festival on Thursday 29 th September, LA14 Live! will see 4 audiences guided on an entertaining musical tour, with sets from Indigo Youth, Electric Fiction, Voodoo Radio,
and Band in Dystopia performing in across the following 4 town centre venues: Barrow
Underground Music Society, The Meeting Place, Cloud Nine & The Lounge and Barrow Labour Club. Audiences will be led between the venues by professional musicians who will encourage audience participation to create an atmospheric musical tour. With tickets at £4 this is an event not to be missed.
Lesley Harris, event organiser from South Lakes Rock School said, “We are looking forward to a weekend of live music including Scottish alt-rock band Twin Atlantic playing Barrow following their recent gigs at The Roundhouse, London and Leeds stylus. With a musical pub crawl, (LA14 LIVE!) featuring local original bands playing across four different town centre venues, Barrow Music Weekend promises to be an awesome celebration of Barrow’s music scene.”
With local musician Maz O’Connor making her hometown return, Hardwicke Circus playing Cloud 9; The Lounge and a number of Town Centre activities and workshops throughout the festival, Barrow Music Weekend aims to entertain, inspire, raise aspirations and provide opportunities to learn about career and leisure pathways into the creative music industry.
Saturday evening sees a Northern Soul and Motown Takeover at The Forum. The event promises a night of Northern Soul music from the best DJ’s in the North West and the local area.
