Historical Research Visits for the ‘Back in Time’ Radio Play.
CANDOFM Community Radio would like to invite your child to take part in free Historical Research sessions as part of the exciting ‘Back in Time’ Radio play project. The research, about life in Barrow during World War Two, will help to inform content for the radio script.
Two visits are planned. The first takes place on Monday 12th February 10:30am to 12 noon at Barrow Library Archives. Here children will be given access to rarely seen documents, including bomb site maps, newspaper reports, diaries and personal accounts. Children will need to bring a notebook and pen. We meet at the Library at 10:15am and pick-up is from the library at 12 noon.
The second visit is to The Dock Museum on Thursday 15th February 10am to 12 noon. Children will be given an exclusive tour of the museum’s collection of World War Two artefacts, including some that are very rare and not on public display. They will have the opportunity to meet with the museum’s director and ask questions. Children will need to bring a notebook and pen. We meet at the Museum at 9.45am and pick-up is from the museum at 12 noon. Children may also bring some money to buy refreshments.
During the visit we will describe the rest of the ‘Back in Time’ Radio Play project which your child can participate in. The next sessions will be ‘Character Development and Script writing’ Dates and times to be confirmed.
