Barrow BID:  Barrow Town Centre Christmas Events
The festive season officially starts in Barrow next Saturday with the Christmas Light Switch-On event, which includes a Santa Dash around Barrow’s pedestrian high street.
Barrow BID has teamed up with partners to produce a diverse range of events across the festive period, including; a Christmas Funfair, Santa Express, Live Music & Entertainment, Free Parking & extended shopping.
Sitting at home staring at your mobile phone or tablet won’t get you in the Christmas spirit, so get off your electrical appliances and visit Barrow town centre, where a festive welcome will greet you.

Every Sunday Barrow Community Kitchen –  Every Sunday free hot meal 2.30-5pm  The main aim of Sunday’s is to combat social isolation.  Donations are always welcome.  A chance to meet new people and reconnect back into the community if you have been alone for a while.  We are fully inclusive no referal just turn up.  Food friendship community.

15 Dec Winter Fair Furness Cricket Club Come and see the array of lovely stalls at the Winter Fair at Furness Cricket Club on Oxford Street in Barrow In Furness on Sunday the 15th December .
20 stalls , lovely handmade items from knitted and crocheted items to wooden decorations , gifts , decoupage, 5d items ( proceeds to St Mary’s Hospice ) Usborne Books , Tropic, Avon , sweets and much more !!!
Free entry but donations for St Mary’s Hospice greatly received .

15 & 20 Dec Kids afternoon tea with Santa at the Gables Hotel £11.95 per child adults welcome to mince pies mulled wine and hot chocolate

15Dec Festive Fun at Ford Park Festive storytelling, Christmas crafts and activities for children.  Free admission (some activities may involve a small charge)

15 Dec  YULE SING HOAD is fantastic opportunity to sing Yuletide songs inside The Sir John Barrow Monument on Hoad Hill.
The singing will be led by Kirsten Taylor of Song Birds Community Singing. A variety of festive songs will be sung from fun and light hearted classics to traditional folk carols, new and known.
This is the forth year running of YULE SING HOAD and ever growing in popularity. Please be sure to buy your tickets in advance as capacity is strictly limited.
Advance tickets £10 are available from Paper Bunny, Market St, Ulverston and from Kirsten Taylor at Song Birds/Feel Good Singers singing sessions.  Please arrive from 1.45pm on the day, prepared for all weathers.  All participants engage in this activity at their own risk.  Sorry tickets are non-refundable but are transferable.
There may or may not be a small handful of tickets on the day £13 but this is space dependent so please buy in advance to avoid possible disappointment as space is strictly limited.Wrap up warm and bring whatever you might need.  Be it thermals or a wee nip.  All people & voices welcome.

20 Dec Christmas Tree Festival St Mary’s Church Dalton From 2pm. Come along and browse the beautiful trees.

20 Dec Dalton Community Association presents Rocketman at Dalton Community Centre free refreshments at the interval.  Admission £4.

22 Dec 2-6pm Modern jive pre-Christmas Freestyle at the Red Rose, Victoria Road, Ulverston

26 Dec Retro Night Barrow Soccer Bar with all the hits from the 60s, 70s and 80s 8pmuntil late.  Tickets £3.

10 Jan 20 Fearless Dance Company first show Dance Brave at Coronation hall.  Tickets on sale at venue or Abbotsmead Community Centre Wednesday evenings 4-8pm.  Come and support this new dance school.

10 Jan 20 My Community and Me 10am-noon.  There will be Six different sessions each one looking at a different organisation within your local community and this will be a great opportunity for you to learn more about the important services that they offer that you may not already be aware of.       Hospice LivingWell centre, first aid-heart start, the library, the police station, HealthWatch Cumbria and virtual court tour and other organisations more to add soon, with some of the sessions we will visit them in their workplaces so we get to see how it all works don’t miss out sign up today for this course by contacting Simon at the women’s centre 01229 811102.

22 Jan Barrow and District Dementia Hub Fourth Wednsday every month at the Living Well Centre Barrow.  Come along and join us for coffee and cake in a relaxed environment.  Lots of helpful information and support available.

1 Feb 20 Ultimate Events UK presents THE GREATEST FAMILY SHOW

If you are looking for an amazing show for all the family this is the one to come and see on Sat 1st Feb 2020 at 2pm.  Our Mascots will meet and greet the whole family whilst the children look up in awe, the adults will definitely want a selfie or two!  Then as the show begins watch the Disney Princess come to life in song and dance with all the most popular sing along songs. You’ll also meet Mary Poppins who will have a few supercalafragilisticexpealidocious surprises in her bag!

Our circus acts will be playing tricks throughout the show to keep the little ones entertained plus the adults should watch out as we might have a few surprises in store for them.

Finally all the family will have the opportunity to have pictures with the cast plus there will be a special appearance from our mystery guest!
